Block Printing Workshop at Rick Rack
Join Cate Kuzik of Ochre Lea for an interactive workshop and discover the art of transforming your fabric and clothing with ease using Block Printing techniques!
In this workshop, you’ll explore traditional block printing with modern easy carve linoleum blocks to print on fabric. Learning how to transfer drawings to linoleum, carving techniques, mixing ink, and printing with and without a press. Also covering the different types of linoleum, and inks for relief printing and some basics for printing at home.
What you'll make:
You’ll carve your own linoleum blocks to make 2 block-printed bandanas (24” square) and are also welcome to bring three items of clothing or up to 2 meters of fabric for printing. In addition to the blocks you carve, you’ll also have access to Cate’s own collection of carved images to add to your projects.
All materials and tools are provided, plus participants will get instructional PDFs on how to block print at home.
This workshop is open to everyone from complete beginners to those with block printing experience who want to expand on their skills.
When: Saturday, March 9th, 10:00 am-4:30 pm (with a half-hour lunch break)
